Omega 9 by sanmonku Omega 9 by sanmonku
well, second try to paint a nebula, i dont know if i like it.. i think i dont make any changes, i'll start a new image to learn more about nebula painting.
if someone has some tips, post it :)
also the second try to render asteroids around a planet, and there are damn many asteroids, i reached the limit of polygons i can render with it O_o

planet radius in max units: 6200 (150m)
polys: 1mio ! but only form the 3 planet spheres and 4 asteroid source meshes. the "cloned" asteroids are not in this poly count ... ! the 4 source asteroids have ~7k polys, maybe you can imagine how many polys are in the scene?! i cant o_O
verts: 490k

max & ps
3d work 30-45min
starmap 1-3h(?)

in the rar file are 3 resolutions (if the rar file is there)
1920x1200
1600x1200
1280x1024

edit: asteroids updatet

I like it. Although the nebula may look a bit like it was painted by hand, a lot of the things in real-life space look weird and diffuse enough already, so I think it's kind of difficult to do such a think wrong. XD What I'm trying to say is you haven't failed much on realism when it comes to that point, it still looks very good. Mayhap you could turn the spots more into waves or something of the like, then it might look better. Also, I really like that cyclone on the planet's surface. ^^

Your pics me give me a lot of inspiration for a Freelancer mod I'm trying to make. I've been trying to come up with suitable new system, but so far I've only been able to create house systems, I had no idea what to do when it came to border worlds. So thanks, thanks a lot. :)

Well, if you think it's too hard to put it in English terms, feel free to use German or whichever you feel most at ease with. I'm studying German right now and have little trouble unberstanding the written language. Only reason I'm not writing in German myself is because... well, can't put my thought into words, I think. XD Also, my grammar is kind of shite (mostly the articles). XD

It's kind of easy to place out planets and make new systems and such if you've got this editor, what's it called... Freelancer Explorer! That's it! Very nifty tool, though still rather buggy. Though modding still requires a lot of coding and it's a real hell: mess one little thing up and the game just crashes. It's maddening! O.O
